Center for the Arts, Chapman University

+ Project Info

Comprising approximately 80,000 GSF, the proposed Arts Center promises an exciting new world class performance, entertainment and educational venue. The Center is programmed and planned to accommodate the University’s College of Performing Arts’ theater, music and dance departments. Together with the planned outdoor function areas and gardens, the complex is certain to become a vibrant new cultural center for the Community and the region. Prominently located on a highly visible site between Glassell Street and the University’s Global Citizens Plaza, the building and the landscape will provide a major new gateway for the Campus. Collaborating with the Design Architect, Pfeifer Associates and the campus development team, Bennitt Design Group has prepared comprehensive exterior design plans that seamlessly integrate these new facilities into the existing campus pedestrian and landscape fabric. The building’s iconic façade and multi-level lobby faces South to a large new open space, created and designed to facilitate outdoor events and functions as well as passive relaxation for students and visitors. Collectively, the dramatic new campus gateway embodies the Chapman commitment to high quality sustainable developments that not only respect the history and legacy of the Institution but create vibrant new cultural and community assets for the City and the region.
