The Michelson

+ Project Info

Prominently located in the heart of Orange County at the intersection of Jamboree and the 405 freeway this 532,000 sf. office building is currently owned and managed by the Emmes Company. As a new landmark in the Park Place Business Center Campus, the former headquarters of the Flour Corporation, the dramatic presence of this building together with the evocative site landscape development compellingly brands and leverages the positive attributes of the emerging Campus. In collaboration with the Design Architect, Richard Keating and the Executive Architect, HKS, we created an engaging series of outdoor spaces to reinforce visibility from the surrounding thoroughfares and to establish a new signature address for the tenants and visitors. These spaces include architecturally integrated parking courts/groves, an exquisitely crafted motor court featuring two sculptural signature trees, a Coral and a Dragon Tree together with a dynamic water feature and extensive gardens that visually connect and reinforce the site with the surrounding Campus. Along the entire west fa├žade of the grand lobby, a modern and simple linear pond reflects the beautiful specimen Melaleuca (Cajeput) trees that were relocated from the property and that now provide passive solar control for the interior spaces. Collectively, this coordinated site and landscape design strategically positions and differentiates The Michelson as an elegant, sophisticated and contemporary corporate address. Reflecting measurable success in a competitive commercial market, the building currently enjoys 92% occupancy.
